CatholicCare’s Winter Appeal

CatholicCare’s Winter Appeal

This year, the most vulnerable people across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle are struggling more than ever. The onset of winter, coupled with the impact that COVID-19 has had on people’s lives including record high unemployment rates means people need help and they need it now.

CatholicCare’s mission is to build a stronger, kinder and fairer society that values all people. By donating to our winter appeal 2020 you can help to relieve the pressure of individuals and families who are doing it tough. Your tax deductible donation will enable the team at CatholicCare to provide vital food to people experiencing homelessness through no fault of their own. Year on year, the Newcastle, Hunter and Manning region has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness, including those sleeping rough, families and individuals living in cars or couch surfing and those living in transitional arrangements like caravan parks and shelters.

In the last three years, we have served over 45,000 meals between CatholicCare’s Community Kitchens and DARA’s Food Programs to those who are not sure where their next meal will come from. Those who access our food programs are regular people like you and I who have hit hard times and need non-judgemental support from those who care. At CatholicCare, we provide more than a meal. Importantly, our food programs are a soft entry where vulnerable people can access additional support services including counselling, mental health support, advocacy and referral to other services.

CatholicCare currently operate food programs across multiple locations across the Diocese. Your act of kindness be it a $2, $5 or $50 tax deductible donation will go a long way to helping us continue this vital service and help us to open more community kitchens and food programs across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. You can give as a one off or on a regular basis.
