Our Community Kitchens and Refugee Hub receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of volunteers and donors to continue providing these vital services to people in our local communities.

CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning is a registered not-for-profit, that has worked with the whole community to deliver support services and programs that meet the needs of children, young people, individuals, and families for over sixty years.

At CatholicCare, we are people-focused and walk alongside those in our community who need a bit of extra support to achieve their goals and live safe and well. In line with the principles of Catholic social teaching, the foundation of our work is striving for a world where people are fed, housed, safe, healthy and happy, and have positive relationships in their community.

CatholicCare is an inclusive organisation committed to helping everyone in need across our community, regardless of religion, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or disability.

Your contribution will assist the vulnerable in the Hunter and Manning communities by enabling us to provide support services, food and assistance to those who need it most through our services and programs.

The Refugee Hub

Our Refugee Hub plays an integral role in the settlement of refugees in the Newcastle and Hunter region.

We rely on the generous support of the community to continue our vital work. Find out more about how you can donate here.

The Refugee Hub also runs a weekly program where grocery hampers are provided to families in need. These families are often asylum seekers with no income and very low-income single parents from a refugee background who support several children on their own.

Since Northern NSW was ravaged by the flood crisis, our fresh produce donations have been extremely limited. To keep providing grocery boxes for our families, the Hub has needed to dip into the emergency relief pantry, and our supplies are running critically low.

With your donations, we will be able to restock the pantry and continue providing food to those who are doing it tough. These items can be dropped off at the Refugee Hub (58 Church St, Mayfield) during business hours on Mondays and Tuesdays

Items our Refugee Hub needs include:

  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Pasta sauce
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Dried fruits
  • Nuts
  • Dried chickpeas
  • Bottles of olive oil and vegetable oil
  • Milk powder
  • Semolina
  • Cous cous
  • Sweet biscuits
  • Tea and coffee
  • Incontinence pads

Supermarket gift vouchers (for groceries only)
