CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning has launched its 2026 Make a Difference Appeal, encouraging the community to support local people facing hardship this winter.

The appeal supports CatholicCare’s Community Kitchens and other unfunded community programs across the Hunter-Manning region.

Leah, who attends one of CatholicCare’s Community Kitchens while helping to raise her two grandchildren, said the service has become an important source of support for her family.

“Knowing my grandchildren are getting a warm, nutritious meal means everything to me,” Leah said.

“The meals are absolutely beautiful, and the volunteers genuinely care. It gives me friendship, connection and support.”

Each week, CatholicCare serves more than 1,000 meals through Community Kitchens in Adamstown, Newcastle, Toronto, Taree and Forster, supporting people experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, loneliness and social isolation.

CatholicCare Director Lisa Craven said the demand for support continues to increase as many people face ongoing financial pressure.

Our Community Kitchens offer more than food to those who are doing it tough. They are places where people feel welcomed, valued and cared for.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to support our food programs and help us continue serving hot, nutritious meals to those most in need,” Lisa said.

CatholicCare’s food programs receive no government funding and rely heavily on donations, volunteers and community support.

Donations made before 30 June are tax-deductible and will directly support local people in need.

Please help us make a difference today.
